additionally i wish to note that my reading of cecil is that of a closeted gay man who hasn't quite figured it out. so the way i'll be approaching his relationship with rosa will be a bit different from how fandom portrays it.
i also wish to emphasize i don't view rosa as "in the way of my yaoi" (as i know this is often an unfortunate trope female characters get treated with in fandom spaces), rather i view their relationship to be the byproduct of what's expected of both of them in the patriarchal society that is baron.

PERSONALITY cecil is a bit unassuming, and not very vocal in his feelings - granted this is more the result of him not being very in touch with said feelings. when given enough external pressure, cecil becomes more assertive and bold in his decisions, especially in regards to his ideals and self righteousness. most of the time, he's even-keeled, but when the path blazes before him he presses forth with little caution. A tactic that has once before proven to be fatal to those following him. he follows his gut instincts despite these instincts often grinding against others, and tends to get in trouble due to his nature.

cecil harvey was born to a lunarian and a human woman, his father was killed when his mother was pregnant with him, and his mother died shortly after childbirth. all he had was his brother to care for him, but soon he too abandoned him. cecil happened to be found by the king of baron and taken in, treated as a son by the king. he met kain and rosa as a child, and would grow up side by side with them until he was eventually knighted into the role of a black knight and lord captain both.the king, oddly enough, orders he and his soldiers to raid the village of mysidia in order to steal their water crystal. both he and his soldiers question these orders, and the king overhearing this ordered cecil on a mission to the village of myst followed by kain as punishment. once in the village, the carnelian signet the king sent him off with detonates and burns the village. during the process they killed a summoner, leaving her daughter orphaned. feeling responsible for this, kain suggests they take the girl with them to protect her. still distraught over her mother's death, rydia summons titan and a earthquake fractures the ground, separating cecil from kain in the process.these series of events would eventually lead cecil onto the road of rebellion, discovering baron's king has become hostile to all other kingdoms. he would shake his mantle of being a dark knight to become the first paladin upon mount ordeals, unknowingly following the words of his late father.once the true culprit was revealed to be an ancient evil known as zemus who had corrupted his older brother into becoming golbez — and golbez having in turn controlled kain — the group cecil had become close with set off to put this evil to rest once and for all. Once home, Cecil married rosa and was coronated king of baron on the same day. though his own feelings on this matter seem to be unknown...

APPEARANCE cecil wears dark armor that covers his body and face while he is a dark knight. when he becomes a paladin, cecil wears a blue and white armor that reveals his appearance: shoulder-length white hair, blue eyes, pale skin, and a tinge of purple on his lips. even though fusoya claims cecil resembles his father, kluya, in his youth, it is stated that cecil greatly resembles his mother, cecilia, even being named after her.

STANZA I : post game (main verse)verse age 21, in the months following the events of the main game, cecil's had to take on more responsibility as king of baron. slowly yet surely he's started to stifle himself once more --- as he had during the opening act of the game. whether this ever changes will be up to our threads. STANZA II : mid gameverse age 20, verse taking place during the events of the game. can be either early or late game. STANZA III : after yearsverse age 37, i hate you after years i wish you were good. anyways i'll make a writeup of this eventually but i don't think things should go the way they go in this. there must be a way that doesn't make all their struggles in the base game meaningless. STANZA IV : dissidiaverse age 21, kind of defaults to nt dissidia, but keeps development made in duodecim. STANZA V : ffxivverse age 20, something along the lines of cecil having a void-sent father. hard to think about this one considering how much of ffiv that xiv borrows from. STANZA VI : general fantasyverse age 26, the king of a far off country, though he seems fairly unhappy with being a ruler and having to adhere to court politics and intrigue. he yet yearns for travel and battle. he has yet to take a queen, it seems, and this has caused conflict recently.
